Our Journey Since 2020:From a grassroots movement to a 360 purpose-driven impact ecosystem
- Founded on 9th October 2020, VFL Bharat Welfare Foundation is a youth-led NGO committed to reimagining grassroots development through education, innovation, and volunteerism. Officially registered under MCA(CIN :-U88900JH2023NPL020454) ,MSME, NITI Aayog, Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, CSR, 12A & 80G, we are building scalable, sustainable models to uplift underserved communities.
- Since inception, we’ve mobilized 2500+ youth as volunteers and interns, conducted 1000+ impact events, and collaborated with reputed names like TCSC Mumbai, Amar Chitra Katha. Our work has been featured across India Today, DD Network and Dainik Bhaskar.
- Our Educational Foundation: From Pathshala to Pencil Beats
- Our grassroots journey began with Pathshala, a youth-funded community school model supporting 100+ marginalized children over 3 years through 500+ sessions, science events, educational trips, and skill-building classes. This groundwork evolved into our flagship project—Pencil Beats.
- Recent Achievements (2025 Onwards)
- We are currently running 3 active batches of Pencil Beats Micro-Schools—one inside a marginalized school, one in an urban slum area in Ranchi, and one fully independent—all 100% volunteer-led, delivering transformative education through Pencil Beats, STEM learning, and grassroots innovations, impacting hundreds of children.
- Active operations for the 2025–26 session have been initiated by our BlazeX Fellow Cohort-1.
- Started Udaan BlazeX Fellowship Cohort-1 (2025–26), India’s first part-time paid fellowship for college-going and drop-year aspirants. We onboarded 30+ fellows from across the country, who are currently leading various domains of our organisation and will continue till April 2026. While they create on-ground impact, we are building their portfolios through paid courses and workshops, focusing on a practical approach with limited time commitment (A revolutionary shift from outdated, tokenistic social internships toward purposeful,flexible, skill-driven volunteering)
- Our Core Projects:
📚 Pencil Beats – Jharkhand’s first self-sustaining Micro-School & STEM Lab model with academic bridging, AI/robotics training & live startup tracks.
🎂 Cake & Kindness – Founded by Our Core Member,Mr Rahul Roy,Celebrating birthdays and milestones with children in slum communities with warmth and dignity.
🚀 Project UdaanX – A nationwide youth volunteering movement with internships, CEPs, fellowships, and now, UdaanX Blaze.

Join our organisation through Project UdaanX, a year-round initiative redefining traditional volunteering with impactful, paid, part-time, and flexible roles across 10+ online and offline domains. Aimed at building both social impact and individual growth, it offers free CSR training, performance-based stipends, PPO opportunities, LORs, verified work experience, paid courses, sponsored trips, and exposure to social entrepreneurial projects—all through a practical, low-time-commitment model. Our flagship, the BlazeX Fellowship, has already launched its first cohort.

Our 3-year-long grassroots education and innovation initiative, Pathshala, has now evolved into Pencil Beats—Jharkhand’s first Microschool and STEM education model with a self-sustainable approach and a live startup track. Today, we are running three active batches of Pencil Beats Micro-Schools: one inside a marginalized government school, one in an urban slum area of Ranchi, and one as a fully independent model. All three are 100% volunteer-led, delivering transformative education through a blend of Pencil Beats’ creative pedagogy, hands-on STEM learning, and locally rooted innovations—impacting hundreds of children and setting a benchmark for inclusive, future-ready learning.

Shubham KR Rathore, founder of VFL Bharat Welfare Foundation, Pencil Beats, Udaan, and Taam Jhaam, started his journey as a social entrepreneur at just 20. Originally from Ranchi, Jharkhand, he left a stable software engineering career with TCS and BYJU’S to follow his passion for grassroots change. Since then, he has led 2,500+ youth, executed 1,000+ ground events, and launched 20+ internship and CSP programs across underserved areas. He’s been awarded titles like the National Builders Award, held leadership positions in NSS and various NGOs, and is a 100% scholar at ISDM — India’s top development management institute. Featured on DD National and covered by platforms like Dainik Bhaskar, Shubham continues to drive systemic change through Pencil Beats (focused on education access) and UdaanX (offering youth real exposure, stipends, and skill-building). For him, the goal is clear — to build a self-reliant social ecosystem where no child is left behind, and every young changemaker gets the dignity, opportunity, and platform they deserve.
